  • This carnelian agate will exhibit colors ranging from primarily Orange, reds, brown-typical "carnelian" shades to white to black. Carnelian Agate is 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Carnelian is a brownish-red mineral commonly used as a semi-precious gemstone.
  • Background: Extensive beds of carnelian and agate mostly from Rajpipa in State of Gujarat in India have been dug since at least about 1500 AD to provide raw material for the region's extensive lapidary industry.
